What Is "Doug's Music Snobbery" and Why Is It Here?
I am a music FANATIC. Starting with the “concerts” I’d put on for my grandma when I was 5, to singing “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” at Kindergarten show & tell, to playing cello in my high school orchestra all the way to now as the lead vocalist for Detroit cover band Vintage Playboy (my third band), I’ve got a vast music knowledge and background, and I’ve got plenty of opinions. I was “that guy” that made everyone mix tapes on cassette in high school and college with my Nakamichi Cassette Deck 2 (which I still have), I used to blog about music on MySpace (lol) and I’ve met many of my music heroes. I’ve digitized ALL of the vinyl I’ve ever owned and I’ve seen hundreds of concerts.
This website - M10 Social - is my website for my digital marketing brand and that is why I started it. M10 Social is still the main purpose for having this website and all the content other than this music tab / blog is FOR M10 Social - know anyone who needs social media help? Hehe…
Meanwhile I needed a dedicated outlet to start blogging about music again. I thought about starting another website, but then I thought - why?
M10 Social is more or less a personal brand - it’s MY brand. I already have a website for the photography studio Frameable Faces Photography which I own and run with my wife Ally, and that’s where I operate M10 Social from primarily. I’ve posted about music there a few times but it doesn’t quite fit there as a regular thing, and I blog there pretty consistently with photos from sessions with our clients.
I post here about social media but A) I’m not always quite as consistent here and B) I’ll likely never hit the same volume of clients for M10 Social who will land on this site searching for my services and any “confusion” with this content being here will be minimal. I’m not looking to have a high volume cookie cutter digital marketing firm anyway. I am very serious about my digital marketing work and thought leadership in that space, but I only work with a handful of clients. So I frankly didn’t feel like starting a third website and figured there’s no reason not to just add a tab to this one. Besides, it will bring more traffic to this site (I already have good constant traffic at Frameable Faces) and that can’t hurt right?
So come along to discover some great tunes and feel free to debate my opinions even though you’ll most likely be wrong (that’s the snobbery part). 😉
