15 Surprising Ways The Twitter Card Validator is More Refreshing than New Socks?
Okay I’m coming clean right now - this is NOT about any 15 “surprising” ways the Twitter Card Validator is “more refreshing” than anything… Once in awhile I use Portent’s Content Idea Generator for a little fun inspiration for blog posts. I don’t often use what they return verbatim, but this one was silly enough that I thought let’s go with it - even if I’m using it as click bait… hehe…
Now for the actual point of this blog post:
I was going back through the family portrait category on our Frameable Faces blog to find a post to link back to for a current session with a returning client, and I came across an old one from a few years ago that’s still relevant and figured I’d tweet it. The graphic I had used in the article was a stock photo of a pile of clothes that I actually still think is fun, but I was curious if Twitter would pull it as the thumbnail in the tweet. A quick Google search led me to this article about how link previews are handled by different social sites, and it mentioned the Twitter Card Validator! What a cool little tool on Twitter that I suspect not many people know about.
All you do is plug in the URL link you plan to tweet and voila! It shows you exactly how it’s going to look! Like so:
Neat trick huh? I like it, and here is the bigger lesson. A little pre-check on any piece of content before posting is important to make sure you are consistently representing your brand or clients the way you intend. Hope this helps! Feel free to share and comment if this helps you!
